office news – the team at appleleaf accountancy have had two reasons to celebrate recently.
new addition to the appleleaf family
Director Matthew Portess and his wife Cara welcomed their first child last month. Toby Portess was born on Tuesday 8 October, weighing 7lb 3oz, and both Toby and Cara are doing well and settling in at home now.
Matthew swapped his calculator for nappies during his two weeks paternity leave and said: “Toby arrived pretty much on time but a bit more dramatically than expected! Both Cara and myself are delighted with our beautiful baby boy who is already proving to be a little character and will no doubt make an appearance at the office in the near future but may be a little young to help prepare for the January tax return deadline.”
AAT exam success
Emma Hutchinson who joined the team earlier this year passed her latest AAT exam which she sat in September, which is great news and very well deserved.
Emma is part way through studying for her AAT qualifications which are internationally recognised and gives those working in financial roles the practical skills and knowledge which can be used to help you and your business.
Emma said: “This exam covered a wide range of topics I have previously studied, including effectiveness of financial planning, internal controls and decision making, regulatory obligations and the purpose and structure of the accounting function.
“It all sounds quite heavy going but is really relevant and useful in my day-to-day work and I was very happy to have another exam passed and ticked off the list.”
